RIP-Ready Files vs. Non-RIP-Ready Files Proofing Process A Bit about Color Trapping Additional Services & Custom Products What does 4/0, 4/1, 4/4 mean? 4/0 = Full Color Printing on Front only 4/1 = Full Color Printing on Front, Black only on Back 4/4 = Full Color Printing on Front and Back Back to top Recycled/Recyclable Definitions Everything is fully recyclable, with some recycled content in most stocks. Recycling: a series of activities by which discarded materials are collected, sorted, processed, and used in making new products. Pre-consumer: recovered paper consisting of trimmings and scraps from printing and other converting processes, and is reused to make pulp without reaching the end consumer. Post-consumer: recovered paper that has been used by the consumer and is then returned to the mill for recycling. Back to top Coatings: Varnish: Standard Gloss varnish UV Coating: All new writeable very high gloss chrome UV is a resin based product which comes from trees! Thus UV is fully recyclable. Note: when cards are UV coated both sides they tend to be quite slippery. Back to top What about Bleed? Both bleed and non-bleed cards cost the same price. All bleed cards must have a 1/16" inch bleed. All type should be placed 1/8" in from the trim size of the card. Back to top How quick can I get my order? OFFSET: Usually 10 days. Please ask about our RUSH service if you are in a hurry. DIGITAL: Standard turnaround is 2-3 days - or RUSH if you need them quicker! Back to top RIP-Ready Files vs. Non-RIP-Ready Files: All prices are based on receiving RIP-Ready files. If your files are NOT RIP-Ready, they will incur additional charges and possible delays. Please read our tech specs for more information. Back to top Proofing Process: Proofing is an important part of your order. We will not print your order without your written approval. Please check your proof over very carefully. When will you get a proof? We will get back to you within 2 business days of your order, either with a proof or to collect any missing information. Please contact us if you haven't heard from us within 2 business days. There are 3 different kinds of proofs: • a PDF proof by email (free) • a printed color proof ($10.00 - delivery charges may apply if required) • a black & white proof by fax • Additional PDF and/or printed proofs are $10 (if required - delivery charges may apply). Note that a PDF proof is not suitable for color reference, since the colors vary from screen to screen. Although not a contract proof, a printed color proof will give you a close approximation of the colors on the final product. Important notes about color If you are unsure about the colors of your file, please provide a printed color reference and ask us for a printed color proof. We can adjust your file to resemble your reference as closely as possible. If you do not provide a color reference and request a color proof, we can not guarantee a particular result. Note: a reasonable variation in color between original materials, proofs and the completed order will constitute an acceptable delivery. Changes Every change you ask us to make generates a new proof. Please communicate any changes by fax, email or in writing - we do not accept any verbal changes. Note that any changes to your file will incur time charges. Back to top A Bit about Color: A reasonable variation in color between original materials, proofs and the completed order, will constitute an acceptable delivery. Virtual Press will reproduce color as closely as possible, but due to the difference in equipment and conditions between color proofing and pressroom operations, Virtual Press cannot guarantee exact color matches. Color - RGB vs CMYK vs Pantone, Blacks vs Rich Blacks, Web Images Proofing (color variation) ![]() A Bit about Black: a safe rich formula is 100K 60C 40M 40Y, used for backgrounds and borders only, never text. In order to get a rick solid black background, we recommend you use: 60% Cyan, 40% Magenta, 40% Yellow, 100% Black. Please do not use 100% Black only (this will print out grayish). For Black text on a light background please use only 100K and not the rich black mix. Back to top Trapping: Do not trap your files. Trapping is handled at the RIP stage. Back to top Additional Services / Custom Products We offer a wide range of bindery/finishing services and custom products. If you do not see what you're looking for, please contact us. Back to top Errors and Omissions: Errors and omissions approved by the Customer are the responsibility of the Customer. Extra charges may apply to changes in original Customer specifications or changes made after Customer approval. Back to top |
